TOP Three FREE Summer Activities (Tuscaloosa)

Still looking for ways to keep your kids engaged and entertained this summer? Well I wanted to give you my top three FREE activities available for Tuscaloosa Area Kids.

3. Every Hero Has A Story: This year the Tuscaloosa Public Library’s theme is EVERY HERO HAS A STORY. The summer the library is hosting lots of events that will offer children the chance to improve their reading and writing skills, as well as mingle with other local youth and have fun. A few of the events include: Gaming For ALL each Tuesday @ 3:30 at the Brown Branch Creative Writing Workshop @3-4:30 at the Main Branch LEGOLAND Each Thursday @ 2 at the Main Branch Also, they are hosting the Summer Reading Program in which children can choose the number of books they agree to read this summer, and they will be rewarded with prizes if they meet their individual goals

2. Summer Lunch Program: The Tuscaloosa City School System is offering a Free Food Service Program at FIVE area locations. All children 18 and under are invited to come enjoy lunch for free. Meals will be served from JUNE 1-JUNE 26 at the following locations: ARCADIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NORTHINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL PAUL W. BRYANT H.S. Meal will be served @ MLK JR ELEMENTARY FROM  JUNE 1-JULY 31. You can call 205-759-3520 for more information.


  1. Free Movie Series: The Hollywood 16 is once again hosting it’s annual free summer movie series. This is one of my favorite free things to do each summer. Movies are played each TUESDAY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. Doors Open at 09:30 and the movies begin at 10:00. 205-248-8248 For more information.
