Looking for something fun today? Join me for Sundays Afternoon Showing of Dream Girls.

I’m headed to work today and listening to the radio. I hear some familiar music. It’s a song from the motion picture Dream Girls.I listen to the announcer.  Dream Girls has been adapted into a play. Cool. Then I hear its coming to Tuscaloosa, no its in Tuscaloosa at the Bama Theatre. Extra cool. Now I’m really interested. Then I realize, its playing at the Bama Theatre this weekend.

I’m sad and excited at the same time. I really want to go. I think this will be a great show to watch. I’d love to take my family. However it’s short notice and I haven’t made any arrangements to go. Ho-hum.

Fast forward a few hours and an old highschool friend hits me up on Facebook. It’s a fellow Thespian from yester-year, Anthony Noland.  Small talk-small talk-then BAM! He invites me to see Dream Girls! He’s actually acting in the play. Wow! My highschool friend-whom I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with, someone I’ve won awards with-is actually in the musical Dream Girls! Call me weird, but I get uber excited about this kinda stuff.

It may sound trivial to some. But I will admit, I love theatre, particularly musical theatre. And I am always interested to see how a director and/actors can adapt a screen play to a stage play or vice versa. I wanted to extend and invitation to you my friends, family, followers. The cost of admission is $20/Adults and $16/Children. This is a production of the Actors Charitable Theatre of Tuscaloosa.

  1. I have lived in Tuscaloosa all my life. Ten years ago a tornado hit in the area where I live off 69 South, but that one does not carmope to the mass devastation of this one. Places that have been here since my childhood days are gone. Tuscaloosa will never look the same in these areas. I work at the hospital here and was off sick the day the tornado hit. If the tornado would have hit the hospital it would have been devastating. Thanks to all the people from all over that have come to our great state of Alabama to help out. You just don’t know how much these means to the people of Tuscaloosa and the other areas of the state. God Bless each and every one of you. Thanks to President OBama for coming to our city and also a big thanks to Charlie Sheen also. Please continue to keep our great state in your prayers. Alabama the Beautiful will be Alabama the Beautiful again soon, thanks to all the volunteers.
